Chinese Materials Research
Society (C-MRS) is one of the relatively new "MRS-Type" societies
established in the last two decades over the world. Its principal
idea is to encourage communication and discussions across the
various fields of science affecting materials and the shaping
of material science, by providing forums for scientific interactions
among scientists; engineers and research managers of all materials
related disciplines through joint multidisciplinary conferences
and publications.
C-MRS was formally founded on May 16,1991. Its predecessor
was the loosely organized "Chinese joint committee of societies
of materials" formed in 1986 as an effort to emphasize the interdisciplinary
approach of Materials Science and Engineering through the cooperation
among 27 existing materials related societies.
C-MRS is an independent civil organization registered in the
Ministry of Civil Administration of China. It is a nation wide
society under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Science
(CAS). Like all other formal national academic societies in
China C-MRS is under the umbrella of the Chinese Association
for Science and Technology (CAST).
C-MRS now consists of about 8000 members from China including
those from the 120 collective members. C-MRS organizes one formal
annual conference every year and several other special meetings.
C-MRS publishes now three journals. C-MRS is an adhering body
of the International Union of Materials Research Societies (IUMRS)
which now includes MRS (U.S.A), C-MRS, E-MRS (Europe), MRS-Australia,
MRS-India, MRS-Japan, MRS-Korea, MRS-Mexico, MRS-Russia, MRS-Taiwan. |
